Remember, this is for charity. Here are the rules:
Teams must be registered for the Great Clue Caper BEFORE April 15, 2012.
Teams must have a minimum of two people and a maximum of five people. Any exceptions must be cleared by the GCC chair.
The race is open to all ages, but each team must register at least one adult.
In order to participate in the race, teams must be checked in and paid in full by 12:45 p.m. on April 15, 2012.
Start times will be determined at check-in. Any team that opens the first clue earlier than the team’s designated start time will be disqualified.
All team members must travel in a single vehicle for the duration of the race. Team members must stay together at CLUE sites.
Teams may not substitute members at any time after check-in, or add members after check-in.
Teams must follow all traffic laws throughout the race. Any team determined to be speeding or driving recklessly will be disqualified.
Teams may buy a “phone hint” at the start of the race. The phone hint may be used at any time during the race to help with the location of the next clue. “Lost” or “stuck” teams may return to the Village to receive a free hint from the Village Idiot. Just remember, he’s slow.
Teams are forbidden from intentionally or unintentionally hindering the performance of other teams IN ANY WAY, i.e. taking extra clues from a clue box, blocking another team’s vehicle, altering a clue site.
The first team to arrive at the finish line with puzzles solved, tasks completed and all clues in hand will win. Any disputes will be resolved by the Great Clue Caper Committee.
The winning team will receive a check for $1,000 and a $1,000 donation to the non-profit 501(c)(3) of their choice. If there is any question of an organization’s 501(c)(3) status, the check will be withheld until the status can be verified.
Teams that do not finish the race or find the finish line by 5 p.m. should head to party location and walk the Walk of Shame.
The Great Clue Caper committee reserves the right to modify or add to these rules as needed.
